The Brecon Beacons Team Challenge is an ideal away day for the more adventurous team! Our base is the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales – easily reached from the M4 or M5 motorways and with good rail links to the rest of the country. The scenery is outstanding…a real chance to step-back from day-to-day pressures and focus on bonding as a team.
The Brecon Beacons Team Challenge is based on a journey taking in valley, hillside, mountain and subterranean passages. Your team will, as you complete your journey, attempt to recover six silver goblets.
As the journey unfolds you will encounter team challenges. Two are major team challenges lasting an hour or two while the remainder are shorter, snappier problem solving challenges.
The first major team challenge involves an abseil descent of an impressive 70ft cliff face with stunning views out over the Usk Valley far below. On arrival at the site you meet a safety instructor who will offer guidance and monitor safety. You will be shown how to safely lifeline one another and work as a team while undertaking this challenge. Requiring high levels of trust and support, your team will make an attempt to recover one of the silver goblets from a small ledge halfway down the rock face and accessible only by abseil.
The second major team challenge takes your team into the depths of the mountain. Equipped with caving suits, wellies, helmet and miners lamp, a careful exploration of the cave will result in the recovery of another of the silver goblets. The cave is ideally suited to a group of novices. The main entrance is large, leading to an impressive main chamber. Your team selects its own route through the cave – all routes are interesting - however choosing the level of difficulty and challenge is left entirely to you. Once again an experienced cave instructor is on hand to monitor safety and offer support.
By the end of this memorable event, your team will have completed an exciting traverse of the mountainside and have in your possession a full set of silver goblets signifying a successful completion of your quest and the start of an evening of celebrations.
We use a select group of cosy country inns and hotels for this event each of which offers a warm and friendly base. You will certainly have tales and memories from a great day to relive around the fireside!
