Auction House is a competitive team building event in which teams pit themselves against one another in an exciting auction. However, this is an auction with a difference; there are no antiques or old masters up for grabs. Instead teams are bidding for the “rights” to tackle a wide range of team challenges that will hopefully yield a bountiful ROI (Return On Investment).
Each team (typically between 5 and 7 participants) represents a group of trouble-shooters brought together to solve the unsolvable, do the undoable and crack the uncrackable – and make a tidy profit into the bargain! Auction House kicks off with a briefing as each team receives their auction catalogue and spending money. The catalogue outlines moneymaking schemes (a wide range of fun team challenges) on offer. Each “lot” offers a cash payout for successful completion – the level of payout reflecting the level of difficulty associated with each team challenge.
Teams initially investigate challenges available, and decide upon a strategy for the forthcoming auction. Sealed Bidding, Dutch Bidding, Open Bidding and Mystery Bidders all add to the tension as teams endeavour to fill their portfolio with challenges they believe offer the greatest return on investment – or perhaps they’ll simply opt for those they like the look of! Should they go for a high-reward construction challenge that could be tricky to complete? Or would they be wiser opting for a communication team challenge that a team member is confident can be achieved, though offering a lower level of payback?
To add to the intrigue, some teams may decide to form bidding alliances with other teams, while others decides to go it alone.
All team challenges are set-up in and around your event venue. They can be indoors or outdoors. They include a wide range of fun, problem solving, team exercises; some cerebral in nature, some physical, some involve creative problem solving, or communication skills. Our objective is to offer a wide range so that teams can play to their strengths as they decide upon a bidding strategy for the auction.
On completion of the auction stage, teams race to complete their challenges within the allocated time slots, and then bank their winnings. Top earners win the prize and accolade of “Auction House Champions”
Auction House can be completed purely for fun or can conclude with an informal review during which participating groups look back over the activity and identify achievements (individual and group) and learning points. This team event is ideal for conferences, away days and team building, and particularly appeals to groups that want an activity with high-levels of competitiveness and strategy built-in.
