Snowdon Challenge Event

Last Weekend’s Snowdon Challenge Summiteers with ALM Translations Ltd

If you have a dream or desire for your team event; it is always worth checking with us here at Eventus!

Last weekend, 13 members from ALM Translations Ltd. took part in a specially tailored team challenge to the top of  Snowdon.  Even though it was late April, the conditions were wintery – cold, snowy and windy..brrr!

This was not one of our regular events – we don’t even have a page for it. However with backgrounds in outdoor pursuits and with qualified mountain leadership staff we were happy to oblige with a Snowdon Challenge that was a little bit different.

This is the second time that ALM Translations had used Eventus. They are an adventurous bunch. Last year they completed The Talybont Trail When asked for their ideas – climbing Snowdon was the one challenge they all agreed upon!

The team ascended by the quiet South Ridge of Snowdon and avoided the crowds. There was a little bit of scrambling but nothing to deter the intrepid summiteers. Capably guided by Phil and Jock, the team were set 3 objectives:

  • to reach the summit of Snowdon and return
  • to support and encourage each other in the challenge
  • to complete a series of mini challenges along the way including the brilliant Bothy Bag Challenge

Challenges were requested en-route but as the summit neared and the weather closed in, the team concentrated on keeping together and watching their footings.

Happy to have reached the summit in challenging wintry conditions – the teams joined the myriad of people for photos and then chose the quiet descent down the Rhyd Ddu path to finish.

The weekend was a great success. Everyone enjoyed it and we’re still talking about it (in a positive way). We have all recovered now, but there were a few sore legs on Monday!

After a stressful couple of months (work has been incredibly busy), it gave people a chance to come together and get to know each other better. We have had quite a few new recruits recently, so this was the perfect opportunity for them.

Thanks for organising yet another great even for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the challenges you set for us and the climb itself was a major achievement for everyone. Jock was great at ‘distracting’ people when they were nervous and everyone felt they were in safe hands.
