With budgets tighter than ever, perhaps the Treasure Hunt Takeaway is the answer! This great new DIY product means everyone gets to take part and you don't need an event manager. Prices are very competitive yet you get a brilliant team treasure hunt! Perfect for work teams, family groups, birthday celebrations, private parties or just something fun to do!

You and your team mates have up to three hours to crack approximately 30 clues in a bid to be the quickest team to reveal the six-digit Master Code.

State-of-the-art text messaging service means using a mobile phone allows your treasure hunt to be self-run - even you the organiser can take part! Text messaging will register your team (using a suitably amusing team name of course), provide you with two lifelines for clues you cannot crack, and then verify your finishing Master Codes and completion time so you can see which team won. Wicked fun!

Where does the Takeaway start and finish?

The Takeaway is designed to be flexible so that you can start and finish the treasure hunt at a location to suit yourself. We would recommend a pub, bar or restaurant which is within the area covered by the treasure hunt.

What time does the Takeaway start?

Due to the flexibility of the Takeaway, you can start your Treasure Hunt when it's convenient for you! You’ll find it easier to complete the Treasure Hunt in the daylight but feel free to attempt your hunt in the evening (although you might need a torch!).

Does each team have the same clues?

Each team has exactly the same clues. Our treasure hunts consist of six different coloured zones, each of which covers a different part of the location that you have booked. These can be completed in any order; this is not a trail whereby each team must follow a set route, but rather each team is required to work out the best way of completing the hunt. No two teams ever plan their route in exactly the same way, thus ensuring that teams do not all complete the treasure hunt in the same order!

Is there any set-up required?

All of the clues are set-up for you so there is nothing for you to do on the day other than to read the instructions, send your text and get going!

Can the organiser be involved?

Absolutely! The Takeaway is designed so that the scoring is done via the text messaging feature, and not via the organiser, meaning that everyone can take part! As with a board game, the organiser may need to read the rules to everyone and ensure that all participants are clear on what is happening but after that, they are free to take part.

Are prizes provided?

We do not provide prizes as part of the standard Takeaway package but we can offer you medals for an additional charge. Alternatively, why not buy your own prizes for the winning team, and even some wooden spoons for the losers!

How long does the Takeaway take to complete?

We recommend that you allow two - three hours for the actual Treasure Hunt, with timings dependant on how competitive and fit you are, and how well you plan your route! These timings are given on the basis that all individuals within each team stick together throughout the hunt. If the individuals within each team split up then you will complete the hunt in less than two hours so please ensure that all teams agree on the rules beforehand (this is explained in the ‘Rules & Procedures’ Handbook that goes out with your pack). Conversely, you will probably spend more than three hours completing the hunt if you intend to have some refreshment stops along the way!

What if it rains?

There's no way to guarantee good weather. We suggest you come well-prepared. Comfrotable footwear is also highly desireable. If the weather really does take a turn for the worse you could always start earlier or later in the day, or, if your schedule allows, on another day entrirely. Talk about flexibility! Finally, if you're in London you could opt for an indoor location (such as The National History Museum).

What will the text messaging feature cost me?

The text messaging is free to use for UK phones in the UK! Roaming charges will apply from your network operator for non-UK phones in the UK or for UK phones abroad. Contact your network operator for further information.

How many Team Packs will I need?

We recommend that you have no more than five people in a team so as to ensure maximum enjoyment and involvement. You should therefore purchase 1 Team Pack for each team that is going to take part.

When will I receive my Takeaway?

Your Takeaway will be posted to you approximately two weeks prior to your event provided payment has been received.

How do we book a Takeaway?

Book is as easy. Simply call our office on 01558 668925 or e-mail using our contact us form. We'll need some information when you call; namely:

  • The date of your planned DIY Treasure Hunt
  • The number of team packs you require
  • The location for your Treasure Hunt (choose locations from the list above)
  • Name and address for us to post your packs to

And that's it!
