Narrowboats Event

Narrowboats, each accommodating up to 8 people, are comfortable and well equipped. Simple meals can be prepared on board, or we can make use of some fine canal-side inns and hotels passed on our journey. Some groups choose to sleep on board while others elect to overnight at a nearby hotel.

The canal is both narrow and twisting. Add the tunnel, locks and low bridges and simply getting the narrow boats from A to B proves quite a challenge. However, as well as completing the trip, your team members will be in the role of a research team unravelling a mystery that combines fact and fiction from the canal’s heyday period of the late 19th century. This task combines organisational, cerebral and physical problem solving tasks that takes place as the journey along the canal progresses. To win clues and information your team will need to successfully tackle a range of team challenges encountered along the canal. These could be short, quickfire challenges or more more lengthy challenges such an mountain biking or abseiling. This gives the option of making your event relaxing and steady-paced, or physically active and challenging. You decide!

The challenge facing your team is to keep the narrowboats moving and in contact with each other, while landing and picking up ‘shore’ parties, and solving a mystery that slowly emerges as the journey progresses.

Teams undertake regular progress reviews to assess their performance against both task and process objectives. The Narrowboats Event is valuable for demonstrating the many different ways in which team members contribute to team performance, and will provide a positive and memorable team building experience.
