No doubt everyone knows what date this Saturday is – 4th July – American Independence Day. What you may not know is that we have someone in our office who celebrates this day every year. Mike Hackfort – one of our senior event co-ordinators – hails from Iowa, USA!
Whilst his family in the States are enjoying the massive firework displays, parades through the towns, BBQ’s galore and other party celebrations, Mike will be enjoying his own BBQ with his family and friends over here – on a much smaller scale though!
Admittedly it is not the same, but by being here for 9 years and married to a lovely Welsh lady, Mike is now used to the somewhat muted excitement over here regarding the 4th July. Jokingly he says, that when speaking to his family this weekend, he will tell them that his plan for world domination is slowly working!
So, if you would like an American theme to your next team building day, then check out our Great American Marble Run – can you get your marbles from California to South Dakota via Idaho and Kansas? or what about from New York to Montana via Texas and Washington?
And on the subject of the American States, here is a challenge for you – can you name all 50 states? Yes? Then how about alphabetically?!!
On the subject of independence/national days, the Isle of Man celebrates Tynwald Day on Monday 6th July, and Frances’ Bastille Day is Tuesday 14th July. We do have events which bring together team work and celebration……. Look at our website or contact us for more details!
