Fancy trying your hand at shooting?

Here at Eventus, we’ve been using archery as a fun task in our events for years. Whether as part of I’m a Team Player, Going for Gold or even our Gower Coastal Challenge, we know from experience it’s a great activity that teams really enjoy. Which is why we’ve decided to offer it as a standalone event called Right on Target!

In recent years, the profile of archery has benefited from the exploits of several characters we’ve loved watching at the cinema – Legolas in ‘Lord of the Rings’, Archer in ‘Avengers Assemble’, and Katniss Everdeen in ‘The Hunger Games’ series to name but a few. This has meant more and more people want to try their hand at using a bow and arrow, and experiencing that thrill and joy of shooting; and this is one of the reasons why we’ve decided to launch this as a standalone event. But being Eventus, we wouldn’t do so if we didn’t also feel we could pull some really valuable experiential learning from such an activity, if that’s what a client wants. Given the natural metaphor of aiming for, and trying to hit something, we’ve developed a format that can help teams think about setting and achieving targets, and all whilst having a heap-load of fun.

Now, I’ve always loved archery from when I took it up in Uni. The technical nature of it suits my meticulous character down to the ground; always trying to analyse technique and what was right or wrong. The constant quest for improvement fuelled by the addictive sense of ‘I can do better’ after each end of arrows. And never underestimate the cathartic impact of shooting things! But one thing I enjoy almost more than shooting itself, is helping others to learn to shoot too. The sense of satisfaction that comes from helping people realise their potential and surprise themselves is something hard to match. That’s why I love it when we do archery in an event, and I hope that genuine passion enhances each and every event we do that has archery involved in it.
